Our Mission
Communication is a human right — not a luxury.
TinkySpeak exists to make AAC — the tools that give a voice to people who can’t rely on speech — free for everyone, forever. No app to buy. No device to wait on. No budget meeting between a person and being heard.
What we believe
Every person has things to say. When speech isn’t reliable, the tools that carry those words shouldn’t be locked behind a paywall, a prescription, or a months-long funding fight. A child should not go silent for a school year waiting on a device. A stroke survivor should not wait on an insurance appeal to ask for water. Access to your own voice is not a premium feature.
How TinkySpeak works
Build a communication board right in your browser — no app, no download, no cost.
- Build it in your browserTap to add words, pictures, and categories. Use a template or start from scratch. It works on the device you already have.
- Share it with a link or a QR codeOne link or QR opens the board on any device — phone, tablet, school Chromebook, kiosk. No install, no account required to use it.
- Edit any time — everyone gets the latestChange a board and the people you shared it with always get the current version. The board a parent makes at home and the one an SLP makes in therapy can finally be the same board.
After a stroke
When a stroke takes the words, it shouldn’t take the voice.
Aphasia after a stroke can make speech unreliable overnight — but the need to be understood doesn’t wait for an insurance approval or a six-week device evaluation. A board can be ready the day someone comes home.
Build a voice for the day they come home
Make a board tonight with the words that matter first — water, pain, bathroom, I love you, call my daughter — using real pictures and large, easy taps. Add photos of family, favorite foods, the medications they take.
Share it with everyone in the room: the spouse, the nurse, the rehab aide, the grandkids. No app to install, no cost, no waiting list. It grows as recovery does.
The same board, from the hospital to the kitchen
Model language in therapy, build evidence-aligned boards around each patient’s goals, and adjust vocabulary as function returns — then send the exact same board home with the family so practice doesn’t stop at discharge.
Works on the hospital tablet, the family’s phone, and the clinic Chromebook — one shared board everyone keeps current, no licensing per device.
Why we’re doing this
Good AAC has been locked behind expensive apps and dedicated hardware for far too long. Families remortgage their attention chasing approvals; schools ration a handful of devices across dozens of students who need them. The technology to give someone a voice is no longer the hard part — the cost and the gatekeeping are. So we’re making the building blocks free and shareable, and putting them in the hands of the people who already do the work.
Who it’s for
Teachers, SLPs, parents, caregivers — the whole circle around a communicator, in one place to build, share, and improve communication systems together.
Free, forever — and how we keep it that way
“Free” only matters if it lasts. TinkySpeak stays free because the community builds it together: every board, template, and vocabulary set someone shares makes the next person’s start faster. We fund the tools through partners who believe access shouldn’t cost the user — never by selling the data of the people who can least afford to be exploited. The communication building blocks stay free and shareable. That’s the promise.
Build a voice. Share it. Help it grow.
Start a board in your browser right now — then share it with everyone in your communicator’s corner.
